S&J is committed to preventing its physical-banknote exchange service from being used for money laundering, terrorist financing, proliferation financing, fraud, sanctions evasion or other crime. We apply controls proportionate to the customer, transaction and geographic risk and follow applicable Thai requirements.
1. Risk-based controls
We assess relevant customer, product, transaction, delivery-channel and geographic risks. Higher-risk or unusual activity may receive enhanced review, additional approval or refusal.
2. Customer identification and verification
- We may request an original passport, Thai identification card or other valid government-issued document.
- We may record identifying information and verify the document, identity and authority of the person conducting the transaction.
- For a company, intermediary or representative, we may request incorporation, authorization, ownership and beneficial-owner information.
3. Customer due diligence
Depending on risk and legal requirements, we may ask about occupation, purpose of the exchange, source of funds or banknotes, destination of the exchanged funds, expected activity and the person for whose benefit the transaction is conducted.
Structuring transactions to avoid checks, using another person's identity or withholding a beneficial owner is not permitted.
4. Screening and monitoring
We may screen customers and related parties against applicable designated-person, sanctions and politically exposed person lists and review adverse information where appropriate. Transactions may be monitored for unusual patterns or inconsistencies.
5. Suspicious activity and regulatory reporting
Where required, S&J may delay, reject, freeze or report a transaction or provide information to a competent authority. Laws may prohibit us from telling a customer whether a report, review or investigation exists.
6. Records and confidentiality
We retain KYC, transaction, review and supporting records for the period required by applicable law and protect them with appropriate access controls. Information may be disclosed to competent authorities or service providers where lawfully necessary.
7. Internal controls
- Written policies and procedures proportionate to the business and legal requirements.
- Responsible management oversight, staff training and escalation channels.
- Periodic risk assessment, control testing and policy review where applicable.
8. Customer cooperation
Customers must answer compliance questions truthfully and provide requested documents. Refusal to cooperate may result in the transaction being declined. This public statement does not disclose confidential detection thresholds or replace S&J's internal procedures.
